Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
What internet or network connection is required?
Each kiosk is equipped with its own 4G cellular connection, which is the default method for the kiosk to connect to the internet. Our pre-installation surveys include a cellular test reading, which will indicate whether cellular connectivity will be sufficient at your location, or if we need to look at alternateconnections.
What is the Just Baked kiosk?
The Just Baked kiosk is a self serve, 24/7 hot food solution that delivers premium branded hot snacks and desserts in under two minutes. It provides fresh, high quality food without requiring a full kitchen or continuously staffed foodservice operation.
What makes Just Baked different from traditional vending?
Just Baked is designed to feel more like a modern foodservice experience than a traditional vending machine. Key differences include:
- Fresh, hot food in under two minutes
- Premium, branded menu items
- A modern, high end kiosk aesthetic
- Daypart flexibility for breakfast, lunch, and late night
- A setup that is designed for 24/7 food access environments
What types of locations are the best fit?
Just Baked kiosks perform best in places where people need reliable access to food and traditional foodservice is limited or unavailable. Strong fits include:
- Hospitals
- Manufacturing facilities
- Universities and campuses
- Corporate offices
- Travel centers
- Military bases
- Distribution centers
- Any 24/7 or limited food access location
Locations with a daily population of roughly 150 people or more and strong second and third shift presence are especially good candidates.
What are the electric and site requirements?
Each kiosk needs a standard site setup:
- 30-amp 120-volt NEMA L5-30R electrical outlet. Voltage Range 114V - 126V
- Reliable cellular connectivity
- Enough room for a clear path and footprint: approximately 43" D x 80" H x 48" W of clearance
Financials
Where can I see example financials and ROI?
The best way to understand potential revenue, costs, and payback period for your kiosk is to use the ROI calculator and request a tailored quote for your location. These tools walk through assumptions like traffic, pricing, and operating costs so you can see what the opportunity looks like for your site.
Operations
Can I move my kiosk if a location isn't performing?
Yes. One of the key advantages of the kiosk model is flexibility. If a location does not perform as expected, the kiosk can be relocated. Operators can coordinate the move themselves with the proper transport setup, or ART can assist in coordinating the relocation.
How long does installation take?
Once your site is validated and ready, equipment typically ships in about 4 to 6 weeks. In many cases the kiosk can be set up and go live on the same day it is delivered. If your location requires a split or staged install, additional time may be needed.
What is required to maintain a kiosk?
Running a kiosk day to day focuses on a few core tasks:
- Restocking product
- Maintaining a good mix of menu items
- Cleaning and sanitizing the unit
- Monitoring performance and responding to alerts
How long does it take to service the kiosk?
Service cadence depends on your sales volume, but a full restock is typically a quick visit. Most operators can complete a full restock in about 10 to 15 minutes, including loading product and running Auto Inventory.
Is marketing support available?
Yes. Just Baked provides marketing support through the Just Baked Media Portal, including:
- Launch and rollout materials
- Digital assets
- Signage templates
- Menu rotation and merchandising guidance
Support and Maintenance
Is there a warranty?
The kiosk comes with a one-year warranty that includes parts and service. After that first year, support is still available, but any parts or service would be billed at cost.
What training and resources are available for my team?
Owners and onsite teams get access to online training and how to resources at JustBakedTraining.com. Training guides cover topics like:

Food & Safety
Do I need health permits for a Just Baked kiosk?
Yes, our temperature-controlled kiosks are subject to all applicable federal, state, county, and city requirements.
Machine operators are responsible for applying for and maintaining all applicable permits.
Who is responsible for cleaning the kiosk?
Operators are responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of the kiosk. We recommend using PDI Easy Screen Cleaning wipes to clean the kiosk screen and Handy Clean Rinse Free Sanitizing Wipes for daily cleaning and sanitization.
Ammonium-based sanitizer wipes can be used on all external surfaces. Do not use any sanitizer wipes with bleach or alcohol on the screen or wraps.
What surfaces in the kiosk would have direct food contact?
No surfaces in our vending machine are considered “direct food contact”.
Does the kiosk verify that products are kept under 41 F?
In compliance with the FDA Food Code 2022, 3-501.12 Time,Temperature Control for Safety Food, Slacking, the isolated refrigerationcompartment is regulated by temperature controls to maintain a temperature range from 32.4 degrees F (0.5 degrees C) to 41 degrees F(5.0 degrees C).
Real-time temperature visibility and logs are available to our operators via the ART Operator Portal. All records are kept indefinitely, but records are archived after 366 days.
Can I use my own products or lower-cost retail items in the kiosk?
Yes, this is possible through our self-packing program. However, operators cannot place unapproved items directly into the kiosk. All products must first be tested and approved to ensure they fit properly, heat correctly, are compatible with packaging, and meet food safety and nutritional labeling requirements. Once approved, operators can self-pack the item using the assigned item number and required labeling.
Do I have control over pricing, and how can I manage slow-selling items?
Yes, operators have full control over pricing. To help manage slower-moving items, the kiosk includes built-in functionality to automaticallydiscount products as they approach expiration. Operators can also run promotions such as promo codes, dollar-off discounts, or percentage-off offers to help drive sales and reduce waste.
What is the shelf life of products and how do I manage spoilage risk?
Frozen products typically have a shelf life of 60–90 days when stored properly. Once loaded into the kiosk, most items have a usable window of approximately 10–21 days, depending on the product. To help manage spoilage—especially in lower-volume locations—operators are not required to fill every slot in the kiosk. This allows for more controlled inventory levels and reduced waste.
Does the kiosk require health permitting?
Health permit and certificate requirements vary by jurisdiction and county, so operators should confirm with their local health department. Historically, the Just Baked kiosk is often classified similarly to a traditional vending machine because there are no open food containers. The kiosk and food solutions have been designed with regulatory concerns in mind.
Where is product procured?
Product is available through major distributors so you can fold kiosk inventory into your existing ordering routines. Current distribution options include:
- DOT Foods
- Sysco
- Vistar
